uh-oh, there's something wrong with the world's water. people are becoming infected with flu-like symptoms and, later, bouts of amnesia, paranoia, disorientation, and hallucinations. the cause is yet unknown, but everyone is urged to see medical attention as fast as possible if you are experiencing any of the aforementioned symptoms. if you choose otherwise, you may be at risk for something more serious. to read more about this event, check this thread!

its spring time and all over the world the flowers are starting to bloom. everywhere in the world has their own version of the flower festival, celebrating the beginning of spring; there are parades and flower themed foods, flower shows, and events where those that manipulate plants do so in all their glory. its a light-hearted ceremony celebrating the very precious birth of life.

our first AU event is for the spring and its a steampunk theme. not sure what steampunk is? steampunk is a genre inspired by industrialized western civilization and typically features steam-powered machinery. its generally an AU of the 19th century's british victorian era, usually in a post-apocalyptic setting. it features a typical victorian fashion with the use of more metals, and unique inventions. you can read more about it HERE. now is your chance to throw your characters into the steampunk genre. do note that they will all be regular humans, lacking powers, as well, not everyone will be an inventor and not everyone will live prosperously.

welcome to roseate spires academy, the island's resident public school the school itself looks like a castle, more modern than the ordinary, but it has a beauty and the beast feel to it. a wrought iron fence surrounds the entire property until the forest breaches the back lawn and surrounds the spacious lake. the dormitories are located on the campus with bordering fences between girls and boys.

welcome to the university of roseate spires. far more modern in it's appearance, the school has various buildings all clumped together and a field right in the middle of it all. the gardens line the perimeter and in the center square is the administration tower--which can be seen for miles around due to it being so tall. the dormitories are a minute's walk off of the campus grounds and are divided into male and female dorms.

welcome to wingate private academy; the very exclusive private academy owned by the wingate siblings. only the best students are accepted, and you must be invited in order to even get in. the school is a castle fortress decorated in ivy and flying pennants with the school's logo on them. the grounds are extensive and located on the opposite side of the island from roseate spires. the forest and town separate the two schools, but that doesn't halt the rivalry between the students of wingate and roseate. the dorms are right on campus and are separated into male and female.

welcome to wingate private university; the other half of the very elite set of school's owned by the wingate siblings. only the best students are accepted and you need to have gotten an invitation in the first place. like it's brethren, it is a castle like fortress covered in ivy and waving pennants with their logo emblazoned on them. the property is huge with an extensive football field in their 'backyard'. the administration tower almost rivals that of the roseate spires university's, but so far roseate spires still has the largest administration tower. the school is known for their intense rivalry with those students at roseate spires both academically and on the field. the dorms are five minutes away and separated into male and female.

perhaps not the most religious name to give a cathedral of this magnitude, but it is the most fitting. at night the roof of the cathedral seems to melt away and you can see the night sky as if you were standing outside. the stars shine down to light the pews and altar with an ethereal glow. anyone is welcome here.

avalon general looks like your normal hospital and, for the most part, it is. it's not usually very full due to the fact there's not always much going on here, but when it's needed, you can bet that there will be dedicated staff to take care of you.

blackthorn mall was named for it's original owner, leonard blackthorn and was handed down to his apprentice years ago. the mall itself is a very modern, very stylish building with spotlights and gardens in front. the main office is on a restricted floor inside the center dome in the main lobby. it's mostly one-way glass where the staff and security perch to watch what's going on from a full three-hundred sixty degrees. inside are all types of stores for all your shopping needs.

the local precinct is head up by the police chief and deputy chief; together they make sure the streets are safe for those that live on this quaint little island. its nestled soundly on the corner of the strip and is usually pretty quiet. there's a small, local jail inside the station, but no real penitentiary exists on the island.

hunter park was named after a member of the community who was of great importance back when the island was 'new'. it serves as a hot-spot all year round and can be used as a shortcut between the schools and the strip. its very lush as well as jogger friendly.

blythe field is a large, wide open space outside of the bordering forest. in the winter a large ice-rink is erected and in the summer/spring, the carnival takes place here. otherwise, it's really a nice place to sit and stargaze or cloud-watch.

this forest borders the schools and the rest of the island. it's a nice, calm place to be during the day; very peaceful and relaxed. however, like all forests, you must be careful at night; while you may be something that goes bump in the night, the things in here will bump you back.

the strip is closer to the residential areas and is a conglomeration of various stores. there's a few restaurants, a bookstore, tattoo parlor, movie theater, and even a casino nestled away on this long strip of stores.

hawk enterprises is almost like an eyesore; a blemish on the otherwise pristine stretch of land that is avalon. however, it is the central headquarters of talon whitaker and his internet empire. the tower itself is made of three different portions connected together by a tube walkway. the corporation is huge and provides tons of jobs to locals all over the island. the top floors are for housing for his more loyal employees as well as talon himself who reigns over the top most floor as well as the rooftop.

even an island such as this, neutral as it is, has a darker side brewing under the surface. the underground and its black market are proof of this. through an old drainage pipe you can get to the underground and there you'll find a very seedy nightclub, notorious for anonymous sex, as well as the black market which panders to those that enjoy the more dangerous side of life.

being an island that was once a hot tourist spot, some of the hotels have been maintained and are littered about the island for anyone that still wants to visit this quaint little island. there are some major hotels as well as some smaller hotels that look more suited to anonymous sex rather than a vacation hang-out.

being an island, there are beaches nearly all the way around the whole place. some are perfectly suitable to spend all day on, some get rough at night, while others are just rough all the way around. thankfully, they've recovered from the toxins from three hundred years ago and now the water is clear and full of many species of fish.

there are houses and apartments littered all over the island. there are houses lining the beaches and houses clustered close together. there's something for every monetary class--small ranch homes and a ton of giant, mansions. there's even a castle or two.

here you can roleplay any alternate universe type thing as well as past and future threads. don't just roleplay here, use it in conjunction with the rest of your plotting.

neutral territory, many species, no government. north america isn't the same as it was three hundred years ago, even though the name has remained the same. rather than being divided into states, its divided into colonies across the country. there are no definite rulers and the land is vastly neutral, just like avalon island. all types of species live here. the coastal areas are known party spots.

ancient territory, monarchy. south america has flourished since the plague and is now back to its rich vibrant state. rainforests thrive now that mortal interference is no longer threatening them. south america is now home to the ancients and they reside in their mountain castle ruled by king icarus and his sister. they don't often take kindly to strangers, but many ancients are coming to terms with the times in which they live and are branching outwards.

neutral territory. central america is the world's biggest party spot these days. college kids on break come here and party the day away, pass out, and then do it all again the next day. the nights get wild in central america, however, you absolutely must watch out for your well-being as well as personal property. unsavory characters come here as well to rip off the naive.

demon territory, monarchy, vampire territory, coven. another land that's maintained its original name, europe is almost the same as it was before the plague. however, the main 'states' in europe have been taken over by larger powers. its the smallest continent still remaining but its popularity is growing with certain species: mostly vampires and demons. you can find quite populated areas and many a coven and house of nobility wherever you go--the most notable being the house of noctis and dragomir coven. good luck trying to get here. the locals are very torn when it comes to letting tourists among their ranks and, usually, the ports are closed to only licensed ships. many of the 'states' have had domes built around them to ward off the daylight, leaving the land in eternal states of twilight, thus allowing vampires to stroll around during the day. there's constant fighting between the people of power here and the crime rates are higher here than anywhere in the world.

angel territory, monarchy. formerly known as asia, moirai is now home to a gigantic population of angels. that's not to say that other species don't make their homes here as well, but most likely you'll see the aforementioned around town. moirai includes all the old 'states' of asia plus all the surrounding islands. moirai is a large continent and a lot of the land is used, but you'll still find some forests and natural habitats between all the hustle and bustle. old-world japan is no longer home to the largest population and most of the buildings have been torn down in order to make room for wildlife. no longer containing separate 'states', moirai is one huge axis power. unfortunately, moirai is also home to one of the biggest underground markets for dirty dealings. moirai is a kingdom responsible for much of the architecture and artwork of the new world. they are also the second most wealthy continent, after savannah, and are known for their exports.

shapeshifter territory, packs. in the past, this was africa, now they just call it savannah. its widely uninhabited by any other species, save for the abundance of animals and shifters. many, many packs of shifters have taken up living here due to the conditions and the wildlife around them. they are divided into the northern and southern groups. many of the animals that were stuck in zoos have been relocated here and are happier for it. the only portion of savannah that is uninhabited is cape horn, with good reason. crops are grown in savannah and the food produced and harvested by the shifter packs that live there are shipped around the world. they remain the export capital of the new world.

siren territory, monarchy. once known as australia...oceania hasn't really changed much. oceania has to be the most diverse and laid-back part of the new world, despite being ruled by a siren king and queen. it is still a big tourist trap, perhaps even more so now. wealthy business men and women come here to get a bit more excitement in their lives. like savannah, it has a huge array of wildlife that roam free thanks to help from kind individuals. the beaches here are unparalleled anywhere and its not uncommon to see people skipping school or work just to hang out. crime here isn't as prominent as anywhere else and its thought that its just because people don't care about what they don't have and just live in the moment.

elven territory, monarchy. formerly known as madagascar before the plague overtook, the newly--and by newly we mean in the last 300 years--appointed terravita is the new home of the elven kingdom. the island itself hasn't changed much, only making way for the elven castle and city and, of course, their mindwalk. the jungles are lusher than ever, however, and life is thriving more than it ever has. endangered species are coming back now, full force but, of course, the circle of life still goes on.

faerie territory, monarchy. located in their very own realm, only accessible via various 'faerie circles' around different portions of the world, we have the faeries. they are often very secluded and incredibly possessive over their things, especially their realm. they rarely let anyone use the portals and they choose to be vastly indifferent to the plights around them. rich with forests and wildlife, the king and queen rule rather selfishly all while pretending that they're all for their people. regardless, there aren't many social distinctions here and everyone is pretty much treated the same way.

valkyrie territory, monarchy. like an image straight from a science fiction novel, elysian is an island floating about fifty thousand feet in the air over what was called the 'bermuda triangle'. invisibly tethered, this floating island is home to a giant valkyrie population and ruled by the infamous king odin and his queen, freyja. elysian is a beautiful place with the castle in the center and a town below. freyja's golden field stretches for miles and mile. the valkyrie here treat their king and queen with the utmost respect and have taken a vow to be loyal to them until the very end. the residents here are unwilling to let strangers into their ranks, and forget any other species. the king and queen are very particular and elysian is an entirely self-reliant continent.

uninhabited. a harsh tundra of ice and snow, the wastelands are vasty uninhabited. the weather is fickle and harsh and its not a nice place to live. the only locals are animals native to this portion of the world as well as some arctic shifters.

there are less airplanes that fly through various parts of the skies and on any given day you can see an angel or dragon spreading its wings and taking flight. as well, you may see the occasional airship in motion though, whether its a legitimate carrier ship or a sky pirate's, well, you never know.

there's sometimes a lot of traffic on the open ocean, what with passenger ships, fishing ships, and various creatures that can swim, you have to be careful. who knows, you may see the occasional pirate ship while you're out there.
